Professor Brawn is a social enterprise which aims to provide affordable good food by an inclusive quality workforce comprising people of different abilities, ages and socio-economic background.
So.. just to share some background information on Professor Brawn (:
Professor Brawn was established in 2009, 15th October with the a group of founders which comprises of parents and friends who wanted to make a difference to the disadvantaged in this society.
These are some of the art works done by children with autism from Pathlight School (: Not only do they provide job opportunities for autistic children, they empower them by showcasing their artwork and putting it up for sales. This definitely plays a great role in boosting their morale.

P.s. Professor Brawn was actually drawn by a child with learning disabilities. talented kid isn't it?(:
It's really a positive sign, knowing that creation of social enterprise has always been on a rise. Instead of underestimating the productivity capability of their beneficiaries, Professor Brawn maximizes and unleash the potential of all the children, showcasing their beautiful art pieces in the restaurant as well as providing them with employment opportunities, to help them reintegrate back into the society. There isn't many organizations out there which focuses on helping the autistic children reintegrate back into the society and also, awareness on autism hasn't been done much either. Therefore, It's really comforting to know that Professor Brawn, a social enterprise aims to not only reach out to their beneficiaries but also reach out to us, the public, to let us learn more about people with special needs.
One day, I will make a trip down to Professor Brawn. This is a promise i make to myself.
So.. let us help spread this cause!♥

ReplyDeleteThis is the first time I came across this social enterprise as well. It was an interesting idea to showcase the drawings of autism children and use them as decorative items for the café. All of the artwork shown in your blog post is drawn nicely and it definitely brings up the atmosphere of this café. I believe that F&B business is very profitable and Professor Brawn café can defiantly sustain themselves in the long run with their wide range of food items at affordable prices. More people are aware of this café since it has been featured in many food reviews and this allows Singaporean to have a better understanding of what a Social Enterprise is about. I will strongly encourage you to treat me to a lunch there soon before all the sits are run out!

This cafe does make a difference in the special needs community. Because through this cafe, the public would be able to gain awareness about this community and do their part to contribute to this social enterprise. This cafe definitely empowers the children, as this is a platform for them to showcase their talent and build up their confidence despite their disability.
Really hope I get the chance to visit the cafe when I'm free. (:
