Rent a Christmas Tree

Martin from Los Angeles, came out with a very creative idea to help the environment. This is because during Christmas season, many trees will be cut down and used as a Christmas tree however once the season end, these trees will most likely be dumped into the land field which is detrimental to the environment in the long run therefore Martin thought of a really great idea which serves as an alternative for families during Christmas. 

So now with Living Christmas Tree, they will deliver the tree to the perspective families and at the end of the season, they will collect the trees back to their nursery, where it continues to grow until the next year when it is taken out for rental again. Not only does he focus on recycling the Christmas trees, Martin also sells and recycle ribbons, bows, wrapping paper and a bunch of unique ornaments. 

I feel that this is a simple yet impactful idea. Not many would have though of such innovative idea. However i realized that Martin did not introduce his business as a social enterprise instead just like a normal business with an urge to fulfil a social issue and in this case; convenience and recycling of trees. i personally feel that such attitude should be instilled in every entrepreneurs and i believe, this world will definitely become an even better place to live in (:

    Hi kiahgek!

    I think this idea is good! Rather than buying and throwing away Christmas trees, we can rent them and they will be recycled! Additionally, we get to decorate our trees with their recycled ornaments. :D it is better than buying plastic trees or plastic ornaments as well. As we would not be harming the environment.

    Hi Kiahgek!

    Wow this is the first time I'm hearing of such an organization with this mission and I have to say that I'm pretty impressed with the idea!

    I've always thought that Christmas trees were crazy expensive for something that will probably only be used one or two days and afterward get chucked into a corner in the storeroom. With this business idea of recycling the trees, people won't have to worry about not having a Christmas tree and also they won't have to worry about having to store the tree after Christmas!

    In addition, I saw on their website that trees that are unsuitable for growing for the next Christmas season will be donated to a tree planting organization or become part of an Urban Reforestation Project. This sounds really cool and to me, it feels as though it is the same with other social enterprises, just that they 'help' the environment and trees!

    Hi kiahgek!

    This is a really interesting concept and personally i find this a social enterprise on its own(: social enterprises nowadays focuses alot on helping people and often neglect the planet which very much needs help as well.

    Living christmas tree has really helped solve the problems faced by many during the season of christmas and its really awesome (: it is a very simple concept to reuse christmas tree however not many would have thought if this solution!
